The Endowment Committee is elected by the Voter’s Assembly of Immanuel Lutheran Church to oversee the management and distribution of the endowment funds. Committee members include three at large candidates selected by vote from eligible voting members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in addition to the pastor, principal, treasurer, and congregation chairman. They understand and are supportive of Immanuel’s ministry.

The Endowment Committee will make quarterly reports to the Voter’s Assembly and annually render a complete account of the administration the fund for the “Annual Report”.

The current annual distribution rate is 5 percent of up to the 12-quarter rolling average of the fund. Note: The distribution rate is not the annual rate of investment return. Investment returns in excess of the distribution rate remain in the endowment to assist in growing the endowment.

Yes. The endowment’s purpose shall be to receive, to manage and distribute funding for scholarships, improvements and missions. The funds will add to the scholarship dimension such as tuition assistance to staff professional development; improvement dimensions such as building of new property or obtaining new equipment; mission dimension such as community service or mission outreach.

The Immanuel Lutheran Endowment Fund accepts designated and undesignated gifts. Gifts may be designated for one or more of the following categories: capital projects, student aid, fine arts, Immanuel Lutheran School, Immanuel Lutheran Childcare Center and mission outreach. Gifts may be designated for other areas upon approval by the Voter’s Assembly.

The Endowment Committee allows naming opportunities for direct or planned gifts of at least $10,000.00.

Various kinds of planned gifts to the Immanuel Endowment Fund are recognized. Planned gifts include charitable trusts, life estate gifts, named beneficiary of life insurance policies, named beneficiary of will or trust, or named beneficiary of residual retirement funds.

Direct gifts such as cash, securities, property or other marketable assets to Immanuel Lutheran Church are recognized by the Endowment Committee.

Immanuel Lutheran Church recognizes those who have included Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Endowment Fund in their estate in a variety of ways.

Here are a few simple but meaningful ways to participate:

• Outright Gifts A gift of cash or other assets such as appreciated securities (any amount) will help build the endowment foundation immediately.
• Wills Include a gift of a percentage of estate assets or specific sum of money to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Endowment Fund. Sample language: “I will give to Immanuel Lutheran Church endowment Fund, Tax ID #38, all (or stated percentage) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate…)
• Life Insurance Complete a ”change of beneficiary form” for an existing policy. Sample language: “X percent to my heirs (list names) and X percent to Immanuel Lutheran Endowment Fund, Tax ID #38-1897297.
• Retirement Funds Complete a “change of beneficiary form “for an IRA or other retirement fund. Sample language: X percent to my heirs (list names) and X percent to Immanuel Lutheran Endowment Fund, Tax Id #38- 1897297.
